How can We Solve The Worldwide Energy Crisis?
The energy crisis is now steadily coming to light as the population keeps increasing, which means that more resources are going to be used up. In today’s world, about 1.6 billion people are without electricity. That means that almost 25% of people around the world don’t have any access to electricity. Many say that if oil was used at a constant rate for the next 42 years, we could completely lose all of it. This most likely will not be the case due to the fact that there are other new alternative energy sources that many are looking towards for help. For example, the Chevy Volt, which is an electric car that needs to be charged daily. Due to the anticipation of losing oil and gasoline, more alternative energy sources are being created to help ease the transition when both oil and gasoline are depleted.
The country that will take the longest to transition is, unfortunately, the United States. The United States relies most heavily on the world’s oil using 25% and of the oil that they use, 70 percent is imported. The United States uses about 18.5 million billions per day (bbl. /d) of non- renewable resources. China, which is second in this category, uses about 10.3 million barrels of non- renewable resources per day. That means that China only uses up about 50 percent of the non- renewable resources that the United States uses each day.
Although the world is in a tough situation because of the energy crisis, all is not lost. If everyone helps by doing a small action that helps save time and energy, then the world will be cleaner, more efficient, and will have more resources available for the near future. For example, when you are done with lights in a room, make sure to turn them off. Also, taking less time in showers also saves energy if done by a large group of people. All in all, the worldwide energy crisis can be resolved if everyone provided help in a small way.
